Aqueous sodium hydroxide (20.4 wt% or 5.01 M) at 90 °C in a 2-Liter reactor. Typically, VX was feed into the sodium hydroxide solution at 11.35 g/min. Stirring with a four-bladed 2” Rushton turbine radial flow impeller was maintained at 950 rpm, and a nitrogen purge was used to eliminate CO2 from the reactor during the reactions.
